We are committed to making our astronomy shows as accessible as possible
All our seasonal Stars & Stories night sky shows are summarised by a catchy song at the end, and show scripts are available in regular and large print.
We have a number of Braille books with tactile illustrations available for use (see image and video of this book below).
All our presenter-led astronomy shows are designed to be followed with the help of this book of tactile illustrations.
This 10 min fulldome (360-degree) film with Birmingham-based soundtrack is also available with English or Arabic subtitles.
A thank you letter (written in Braille and translated by a teacher) from a blind 10-year old student who visited Thinktank with her school. She found our Braille book helpful as it allowed her to follow the show by touching raised outlines of planets, stars and galaxies.
Books like Touch The Universe by NASA make beautiful images of the Universe accessible to the visually impaired.
Thinktank Planetarium has a number of such books available for visitors to borrow and use during planetarium shows.
