STEM Ambassador Chris Dale

Chris Dale is a retired telecommunications, broadcasting and electronics engineer from Solihull. Following a 50 year career in a variety of engineering roles at organisations such as The Royal Air Force and The British Broadcasting Corporation, Chris has a lot of expertise to share with the students he works with.

Chris has been a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Ambassador (STEM) for almost four years and has worked on a variety of projects, varying from raising STEM awareness with partially sighted students, assisting with after-school science clubs, judging CREST Awards and being an Imagineering Club Tutor and supporing GCSE lessons in Electronics.

The focus of Chris's work for the last two years has been working closely with the teaching staff at Light Hall School to enhance and enrich their Electronic Products GCSE course. Chris supports the teachers in 10 lessons per month and also runs extra-curricular 'catch-up' sessions to help any students who are struggling.

Chris has also drawn praise from the students he works with. Joe who is in the GCSE Electronics class said:

Joe is now planning on taking 4 science based A-Levels next year at college as he has "really enjoyed studying electronics, as it was a practical subject" and wants to learn more at A-Level.

A dedicated individual, Chris has been known to take circuit-boards home with him for testing before giving feedback to the students in their next lessons. Chris has been praised for his pupil friendly manner and can always give advice and criticism in a positive way that the students can use constructively. Chris is committed to the programme and makes an effort to come to STEM Ambassador Networking Events. Chris's experience is greatly valued and he enjoys sharing his expertise and enthusiasm with new and existing STEM Ambassadors.

Chris is a highly dedicated STEM Ambassador who has fully embraced the enrichment in STEM subjects that STEMNET seeks to provide.
